TIPS & ADVICE

Tips For Beginners:

DON'T RUSH! This is for the long term, not an immediate fix!

Beginning fitness routines or getting back in shape after any type of hiatus from working out is a difficult process. When we get to the point in our lives where we need to change and take control of our health, we all want to rush it and lose that weight and get fit -- like yesterday. Yet, there are some reasons why it's not such a good idea to rush into fitness, weight loss, or nutrition regimen -- especially if you want to be healthy and for it all to stick for the long-term. Remember that there is a big difference between changing/challenging yourself and rushing yourself. Rushing leads to that anxious, frazzled, I'm not getting enough done fast enough or good enough feelings.

Be patient with yourself.

This the beginning of the rest your life. Rushing it will not only make you want to jump off a cliff (or binge eat), you will end up missing all the positive changes, big and small, that happen to you along the way, mentally and physically. Try it. You will see!

Don't Over Think or Analyze.

This is also very easy yet so difficult. Let me guide you to relieve the stress of feeling overwhelmed with the thought process of “what to do” and “when to do it”. So relax and just breathe. Take one step at a time.

Make Small and Realistic Goals.

This takes practice and patience. Be honest with yourself and reward yourself in positive and healthy manners once you have reached those goals. Often times we reach a goal in our life and our idea of celebration for the achievement is to do or eat things that are counter-active towards our previous and future goals. So you end up taking two steps back -- again.

Write it Down.

Yes, this takes time and is tedious, but the rewards of this are worth it. Write down your thoughts, your activities, your food intake and the emotions that go along with each. This can help you track numerous things and learn a lot about yourself.

Most Importantly - Get moving.

Sometimes this is the scariest part. What do you do first and when and for how long? I try to make this very easy on you and will get you moving and going in the right direction towards a healthy body without rushing, overdoing it or risk of injury.
